World Vision - 40 Hours No Sleep
I’m taking on the 40 Hour Challenge by going without sleep for 40 hours—every hour a reminder that in the Solomon Islands, many children and families are going without something much more essential: food.
The ocean is rising faster here than almost anywhere else on Earth; scientists warn the Pacific Islands face another 15 cm of sea-level rise by 2050—enough to swamp coastal food gardens about 30 days a year. Whole villages like Walande have already been forced to abandon their island homes, only to watch new taro beds wash away too.
The cost of this is measured in children’s bodies: one in three Solomon Island children is permanently stunted by malnutrition
So, for the next 40 hours I’ll be pushing myself to stay awake as a small act of solidarity. If you feel moved to support this cause, your help can make a real difference—funding things like climate-smart gardens, clean water, and nutrition programmes that help families build resilience and feed their Tamariki.
Thanks for reading, and for caring.
