World Vision 40 Hour Challenge

Kia ora,

My name is Brigitte, and this year I am taking part in the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge by completing the famine challenge. For 40 hours, I will go without food to raise awareness and funds for children and families facing food insecurity in the Pacific.

While 40 hours may sound challenging, I know that for me it is only temporary. I can count down the hours until my next meal, knowing that food will be waiting for me at the end. Unfortunately, millions of children do not have that certainty. Every day, many families struggle to put enough food on the table, and children are forced to grow up without the nutrition they need to stay healthy, learn at school, and reach their full potential.

This year, the funds raised through the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge will help families in the Solomon Islands access seeds, tools, and agricultural training so they can grow crops and provide food for their children, even as climate change makes farming more difficult. Extreme weather, changing rainfall patterns, and environmental challenges are making it harder for families to grow enough food to survive.

The statistic that really stood out to me is that 1 in 6 children in the Pacific is living in severe food poverty. Behind that number are real children with dreams, talents, and futures that deserve a chance to flourish. No child should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

I chose to participate because I believe that even small actions can create meaningful change. By challenging myself for 40 hours, I hope to raise awareness about an issue that affects so many children and to encourage others to make a difference as well. Together, we can help provide families with the resources they need to become more resilient and self-sufficient.

I would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give. Whether your donation is large or small, every contribution helps bring food, hope, and opportunity to children and families who need it most.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me in this challenge. Your generosity can help create lasting change and give children in the Pacific a brighter future.
