children are struggling to get enough food as the climate changes

Praynia is ten years old and lives with her family in a remote coastal village in Solomon Islands. Like many families across the Pacific, Praynia's family have always cared for their children by growing crops in their garden and fishing from the sea. But today, that food is harder to count on.

Rising seas are flooding gardens, and crops are becoming unreliable. Praynia sees the adults in her community worry as vegetables grow smaller and fishing takes longer because the fish are moving further from the shore. When a cyclone hit her village, it made things worse by destroying their crops and the food they rely on.

Despite all of this, Praynia is a top student who loves maths. She really enjoys science and English too - subjects important to fullfill her dream of becoming a doctor. But following this dream is only possible if she has good, nutritious food to grow healthy and strong. And enough of it that her family can rely on to see her through her years of learning.

In Solomon Islands, communities like Praynia’s are navigating serious food shortages because of a rapidly changing climate. By joining the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge, every hour you spend offline and every dollar you raise, will go towards supporting children like Praynia.
