World Vision 40 Hour Challenge

World Vision 40 Hour Challenge

40 Hours of hunger. A lifetime of impact.

I'm raising funds so families in Solomon Islands can get the seeds, tools and skills they need to grow crops to feed their children in a changing climate.

This kaupapa matters because in the Pacific region, 1 in 6 kids are living in severe food poverty. Together, rangatahi in Aotearoa can help change that.

Your support would mean so much to me. Please donate today so kids in the Pacific get enough food to grow up healthy and strong.

Now’s the time to stand up and make a difference for our neighbours in the Pacific.

My Reason Why

Wednesday 10th Jun
Kia ora everyone, my name is Iris Flett, and this year I am taking part in the 40 Hour Challenge.

A couple of months ago, I attended a Youth Leaders Conference alongside several other students from my school. During the conference, we learnt about the challenges and hardships that many families face every day around the world. One story that particularly stood out to me was Praynia's, a young girl from the Solomon Islands.

Like me, Praynia dreams of becoming a doctor, but because of the conditions she lives in and her lack of access to essential resources, that dream becomes more difficult to achieve every day. While most of us worry about school, tests, or what we are doing on the weekend, children living in conditions like Praynia's worry about whether they have enough food to eat and whether they will make it through the week.

Listening to her story helped me recognise how fortunate I am. I did not choose where I was born, yet I have access to education, clean water, healthcare, and other necessities that many young people around the world are forced to live without.

In reality, millions of children and families face challenges that are completely outside of their control. Through the 40 Hour Challenge, we have an opportunity to make a difference and support communities facing these hardships, helping them gain access to opportunities and a better future.

To help fundraise for families like Praynia's, I am going to be giving up food for 40 hours.

Thank you for your support
