World Vision 40 Hour Challenge
Small Sacrifice, Bigger Impact 💛
I’m taking part in the 40 Hour Challenge for World Vision this year.
This matters to me because I’ve always had a big heart for kids. Knowing that some children don’t get enough food for so many different reasons is quite sad to hear.
I’m raising funds to support families in the Solomon Islands, helping provide seeds, tools, and skills so they can grow crops and feed their children—even as the climate changes.
In the Pacific region, 1 in 6 children are living in severe food poverty. Together, Rangatahi in Aotearoa can help change that.
For my 40 Hour Challenge, I am giving up all junk food and sweet foods. This includes things like chips, lollies, chocolate, desserts, biscuits, ice cream, fast food, sugary drinks like fizzy & energy drinks, etc.
If you know me, you’ll know this is actually a big challenge for me 😅 I’m so used to constantly snacking — when I get home I’ll go straight for biscuits or chips and a fizzy drink, and late at night it’s usually chocolate or ice cream. It’s kind of become a habit, and I don’t even think about it.
That’s why I chose this challenge. It’s going to push me out of my comfort zone and make me more aware of what I’m eating and why. It’s also a reminder that while I’m choosing to give up these foods for just 40 hours, there are families in the Solomon Islands who don’t have access to “treat” foods at all. Instead, they rely on what they can grow or catch — things like fish, root crops, and leafy greens — and many are still struggling to grow enough to feed their families.
This challenge is a small way for me to step into that perspective and understand, even just a little bit, what others experience every day.
Every donation is greatly appreciated and will make a real difference. Please support me so kids in the Pacific can grow up healthy and strong 🤍
