I’m going off-grid for 40 hours… want to make it harder?
Update - it is done! Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me (if you haven't yet, there's still time). You can see the add-on challenges I did - they are the ones with lines through them below. Some of it was tougher than I expected — especially going without hot drinks or meals on a cold, wet weekend – and especially no socks or shoes. But the “timeless weekend” turned out to be a real highlight, it was refreshing to check out and live unhurried for a couple of days.
Kia ora friends,
From June 13-15th I’m taking on the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge — and I’ll be spending 40 hours in Flight Mode. No internet, no social media, no calls, no messages. Just me, offline, while raising money for kids in the Solomon Islands who are going hungry due to climate change.
But here's the twist:
Any donation will make a difference for children and will be an encouragement to me. But if you donate over $100, you can choose to make it harder for me.
I've got a list of extra hardships lined up here — quirky, uncomfortable, and just a little bit awful. If you're donating over $100 you can pick one of these challenges to add - just post it here when you make your donation, and I'll do it:
“40 Hours, Cold Showers” – Hot showers on hold.
Floor it - No bed; sleep on the floor. - Claimed by anon“BYO Bucket”– No running water. Haul it all from the rain tank.(Claimed by Bjorn B)'Take a seat'! - No sitting on sofas, chairs or any furniture(Claimed by Lou & Joel)“Cold Comforts”– No hot food. Everything cold. (Claimed by Sela A)“Broke By Choice” – No money. Not a cent spent all weekend.
“Hydration Nation” – Only water. No juice, tea, coffee or milk.
“Frosty Feet”– Sandals only. No shoes or socks to warm my winter toes.(Claimed by anon)“Wear & Repeat”– One outfit for the whole 40 hours.(claimed by Helen T)“On Your Feet” – No transport. Walk everywhere.
“Timeless Weekend”– No clocks or time-checking.(Claimed by Daniel H)“Hands On” – No cutlery. Eat every meal with hands
💛 Sponsor me here and I'll post about it when I'm back online.
Your sponsorship goes toward tackling hunger for kids in the Pacific. I've been there 1st hand and seen the challenges, as well as the difference you can make.
Thanks so much for your support — and your cruelty 😅

I thought makign you sleep on the floor sounds challenging. But I would like to give you the gift of a "Timeless Weekend". I think that's just great for your soul and you might want to start doing it more often :)
